BURNS CORRIDOR NETWORK - Filled with homes, haunts and howffs of Robert Burns and other icons within Ayrshire & Dumfriesshire
A Corridor filled with Scottish icons, with doors to other nearby places of interest.
The main aim of Burns Corridor is to create a network which promotes Robert Burns and other iconic figures to attract tourists, helping settlements of all sizes to prosper; benefiting the south west of Scotland as a whole.
The A76 trunk road from Kilmarnock, follows the river Nith from New Cumnock to Dumfries. From Burns' 1st Edtion to his last poem.

It seems only logical to call it
"BURNS CORRIDOR".
The A76 trunk road stretches 60 miles from Kilmarnock to Dumfries and it is surprising the number of places near this highway associated with Robert Burns; from his First Edition, printed in Kilmarnock, to his Last Poem in Dumfries. Auchincruive, Tarbolton, Failford, Mossgeil, Mauchline, Catrine, New Cumnock, Sanquhar, Thornhill, Ellisland, Auldgirth; all lovely places and all well worth a visit. But more than this:
Homes of some of Scotland's most iconic historic figures are inside or within easy reach of the A76. See BURNS CORRIDOR ICONS page: burnscorridor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=12
WHY Burns Corridor?.
Robert Burns lived, learned and loved 98% of his short life within the 30mile wide strip of land stretching from Irvine to Dumfries. Robert Burns life: (Maybole,) Alloway, Ayr, Irvine, Mossgeil, Tarbolton, Mauchline, Kilmarnock, New Cumnock, Sanquhar, Ellisland and Dumfries; a Corridor, with doors opening out into places which also had associations with Burns: Moffat, Leadhills, Muirkirk, Darvel, Largs, Logan, New Galloway, Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkoswald, Kirkcudbright and Brow Well near Ruthwell.
