The Weight of Kilwinning
An Architectural Review of
an Unusual Abbey in the West of Scotland
by A.J.Morton
Competing with Melrose, St. Andrews and even England's Westminster abbey, the 12th century Tironensian monastery in Kilwinning was one of the most opulent in Europe, and one of the largest in Scotland. Linked with Freemasons and Templars, High Constables and Kings, Kilwinning Abbey has been dubbed "The New Rosslyn" by the national press.
"If Mr. Morton's theory is proved, Kilwinning could
hold the keystone to re-writing history"
Lorraine Howard
Irvine Herald

Henry Sinclair
The House of Rosslyn and Kilwinning Abbey
Reviewing a Misunderstood Link
By A.J.Morton
Abbot Henry Sinclair of Rosslyn was abbot of Kilwinning in 1541.
Legend states that the Sinclairs of Rosslyn held their Grand Lodges at Kilwinning, and not at Rosslyn Chapel. There is one genuine connection between the two churches, but is it masonic?

The Spy: Notes from an
18th century Government Agent
From the notes and works of Daniel Defoe,
gathered during his missions in Ayrshire.
by A.J.Morton
Earlier historians were convinced Daniel Defoe was unimpressed
by the Ancient Royal Burgh of Irvine, yet a close study of his notes
and works reveals that he held the town in the highest regard,
and thought it one of the best in Scotland.
