Some wee bits of information concerning "yur Burns Supper" In the late 1740's, after returning from war in europe, "the Earl of Stair appears to have devoted some of his time to agricultural reform. WARRICK in his “History of Cumnock” reports that the Earl of Stair was "the first Scotsman to plant turnips and cabbages in fields upon a large scale" (Thomson`s "History III., p.410)." www.e-ayrshire.co.uk/local/clmg/vpage.asp?s=7&p=140The Swedish King Gustav III sent Scottish banker (and friend of Burns), Patrick Miller of Dalswinton (1730-1815), seeds of the Swede in a magnificent snuff-box, featuring marine illustrations.
